Plastic Breakfast

This comedic film is intended as a sendup of a particular form of optimism inherent to the nineties. As these characters grow older, the dream promised to them in their youngest days feels ever elusive, and the closest they can get is to live on the literal standing living room set of a sitcom that is no more.

The staircases may lead nowhere, and the windows may look out to nothing, but that doesn’t stop them from making their own bizarre show, in which fictional versions of themselves are forever looking forward to a glorious day that never arrives. Meanwhile, the studio that owns the set is determined to force them off of it and end filming once and for all. As the pressure mounts, breakfast becomes an increasingly tense affair, with absurd results.
